Do's and Don'ts

1.  Do shower before you tan.
2.  Do exfoliate the entire body before tanning.
3.  Do shave the night before tanning appointment.
4.  Do wear loose fitting clothing to your tanning appointment.  The application dries in 5 to 10 minutes, but for maximum benefit it is best to wait approximately 4 to 6 hours before wearing tight fitting clothing.
5.  Allow tanning application to dry for 6 hours before taking a bath or shower.

Hold airbrush approximately 8 - 10 inches from person's body while spraying.

Use circular (clockwise or counterclockwise) overlapping movement while spraying (this will keep from streaking person).

1.  Begin by spraying the body, working top to bottom; spraying the entire body with the airbrush held upright, pointed up at an angle.
2.  When spraying the sides of the body, have the customer hold their arms out so that you do not touch their skin.
3.  Have the customer bend the knees and elbows so that it is not creased; also, hold the customers fingernails while spraying to hold up the arm (this helps while spraying the sides of body).\
4.  The face can be sprayed last.
5.  Then repeat the process until the entire body and face has been covered twice.
6.  Dry the body with a standing oscillating fan and blow dryer for 5 to 10 minutes.  This will expedite the drying process.

*  The body will be tacky, which is a good thing.  This means you have correctly sprayed the client.  If the skin is still tacky after 10 minutes of drying, please continue drying for another 2 to 5 minutes, and the client can begin dressing.  The importance of not wearing tight fitting clothing is expressed in this instance.

Product Descriptions

All of the SunMist tanning products contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is the active ingredient in all sunless tanning products that produces a rich, dark natural tan.

Moisturizer Tanning Solution:

Recommended for customers with fair or dry skin.  The moisturizer solution will provide a tan in 4-5 hours after the application process.

Clear Tanning Solution:

Recommended for all skin types.  The clear solution will provide a tan in 4-5 hours after the application process.

Bronzer Tanning Solution:

Recommended for clients with moderately fair to olive skin tones.  Contains a bronzing agent, which provides a more immediate coloration of the skin.  This solution is best applied on clients that are looking to achieve a tan more quickly.  The full affect of the application will not take place until 4-5 hours after the process but the client will be able to see the gradual tanning results more quickly.  This solution may leave a temporary discoloration of light colored clothing but can be easily washed.

How Does It Tan the Skin?

The active ingredient in the solution is dihydroxyacetone (DHA).  This compound has been used safely for years.  DHA reacts with the proteins in the top layer of the skin to produce a tan and darkens with repeated applications.

How Long Does It Last?

A good base tan lasts 5-7 days.  It should be repeated at least once a week to keep a golden tan.  Exfoliate prior to application for best results.

How safe is DHA?

DHA has been used safely in cosmetics for years.  Many sunless tanners contain this active ingredient, but because of the formulation and the method of application it often produced an orange tint, especially on the hands, feet and elbows.  The airbrush method eliminates these drawbacks and gives a beautiful, natural bronze color.

How Long Does it Take?

It normally takes five to eight minutes to apply the SunMist solution to the full body.  Then you will need 10 minutes to allow the solution to dry completely before dressing.  This ensures that no streaking will occur.

What are the Benefits?

-    You get quicker results than from tanning beds or the sun, without the risks of burning.
-    You can tan for special occasions only.
-    Hard to tan areas can now be golden bronze like the rest of your body.
-    You can enhance your existing tan, especially those people who are very fair and find it hard to achieve super dark results.

What should you wear (it does not stain clothes):

-    Loose fitting clothes to change back into after you're done.
-    Make-up should be removed before application.
